An escape from busy life

 Hearts across the country started to leap with the advent of cool weather, coupled with cloudy sky, intermittent rains and festival holidays. What a perfect combination of nature and timing! Travelling minds could not ask for more, for sure. Even the unlikely travellers might be enticed to embark on an amusement trip for a day or two.

When it comes to a short trip in and around the capital, parks, museums, and resorts clearly lead the way. If you are looking for a day of enjoyment that involves an adrenaline-infused rush from hair-raising rides, modern theme parks are just the places where you need to be. Theme parks are the ultimate melting pots. Young, aged, teenagers, friends and families are all thrown together and indulge themselves in an orgy of fun activities.

Here are brief descriptions of a number of theme parks:

Fantasy Kingdom

It is located thirty kilometres off the Dhaka city on the way to Savar and about five kilometres from the Zia International Airport. This park was formally opened in 2002 and over the years has gained huge popularity.

Fantasy Kingdom offers a big flume ride with 1500 feet long roller coaster, Santaramaria Viking ship, Arabian flying carpet, racehorses, crazy bumps, a big video game arcade etc. Visitors to the amusement park will also find a four-star luxury hotel at the park that has two hundred rooms, condominiums and resort city. Souvenir shops, merchandise stores and food vendors are all located inside the park.

Nandan Park

Nandan Park is located at Savar, Baroipara beside Chandra-Nabinagar Highway. The park opened its door in 2003 and it is claimed to be the largest Family Amusement Park in Bangladesh.

The parks boast of having unique rides and other amusement facilities like cable car, water coaster, tilt-a-whirl, ice-land, musical dancing fountain, wave pool and so on. This park is specially designed for wholesome family day out amusement and the rides have been carefully chosen so that everybody of the family can take the ride without being scared. Visitors can even experience snowfalls in the park.

The park is spread over 135 bighas of land and there are plenty of greenery to spend the time in an eco-friendly and refreshing ambience. Its Water Park was inaugurated in May 2004. Water Park consists of wave pool, wave runner, ladies and gents curve slides, kids pool, multi play zone, rain dance, waterfall and mist.

Shishu Mela

Shymoli Shishu Mela is a small size childern recreation park. It has been established in 1994 just beside the Dhaka Shishu Hospital. It is an amusing place only for children.

The residents of Chittagong can also get their share of enjoyment and excitement at the Foy’s Lake Amusement World and Sea World.

However, popularity of these places means it is harder to escape from the crowd. Heading to a resort with family and friends and spending time amid warmth hospitality, luxury and comfort is also an enticing idea to spend time in calm and tranquility.

Jamuna Resort

Sprawled over the bank of mighty river Jamuna, the Jamuna Resort is a fascinating destination. It is located on the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge and about 19 kms away from Tangail city. Some 110 cottages dot the landscape of the resort’s sprawling area, which is over 1200 bighas. Besides, there are picnic spot, swimming pool, playground, conference room and a number of good restaurants. Moreover, there are arrangements for boat riding in the Jamuna River. Elenga Resort

Located in the heart of Elenga town, Tangail, the Elenga Resort is about 7 km away from Tangail city. And it is only 90 minutes drive from International Airport, Dhaka.

The resort has a total land area of 8.5 acres covered with lush green grass, uncountable plants and various trees of seasonal fruits, colourful tropical flowers and other flora. Website: www.elengaresort.com

Nokkhottrobari Resort

Nokkhottrobari is created by artist couple Taukir Ahmed and Bipasha Hayat. The resort is perched on over 10 bighas of land adjacent to Shalban at Sreepur, Gazipur. Aside from dozens of cottages, there are a number of dighis, artificial waterfalls, swimming pool, conference hall and many other modern facilities. www.nokkhottobari.com.bd

Padma Resort

The Padma Resort is about 100 minutes drive from Dhaka and located on the bank of mighty Padma in Munshiganj. There a total of 16 wooden cottages, with lavish beach chairs in a vast green sandy beach for relaxation. You will also find real horse ride on the vast land through the river bank.
